Dumaguete Team In PESO Semi-Finals

TechStuff, a team from Silliman University, made it to the semi-finals of the Philippine Emerging Startups Open - PESO. Here is TechStuff's public business summary from the PESO site:

TechStuff
Team TechStuff presents Watchdog24, an innovative wireless security monitoring and reporting system, monitors and reports the status of security of a site to the users and designated parties through text message anywhere anytime. The system reacts within a 2-5 second margin in any case of fire or intrusion. The system is also capab le of accepting commands in a SMS format which facilitates users to manipulate components of concern in their own homes, offices, banks, buildings and even vehicles. Watchdog24 could be incorporated with a local security force that guarantees emergency response in not more than 5 minutes. Be safe always with watchdog24.

ONIA's "Crafting Your Concept Paper"

October 8 found several registered teams represented at the free workshop on how to develop and ensure that their respective concept papers get read and noticed by the judges. Out of 28 teams, 14 came and gamely participated in a group exercise that had them divide into 4 "super' groups and act like a team. These groups were then asked to come up with a concept paper for one of 3 sample business concepts. All 4 groups came up with snappy team names, entry titles, and quite believable - albeit too short, given the time limit - "concept papers".

The workshop/presentation, done by TVB and available at the ONIA site under Concept Paper, was prepared by Dominique Cimafranca.
